At Malden Golf Club, we aim to provide a friendly and relaxed environment in which members and guests can enjoy their golf and socialise. However, as a private members’ club we also expect members and visitors to dress appropriately in smart golfing attire or smart casual clothes. The following is a guide to help members and visitors understand and abide by the spirit of this code. It should not be viewed as an exhaustive list of what is/isn’t permitted.
Overall - The following are not permitted on the course, patio or in the public areas of the clubhouse: - Bare feet or flip-flops. - Exposed chests or midriffs. - Clothing that is ripped, whether by design or accident, or that displays slogans must not be worn. - Football, rugby, cycling or other sport tops displaying team or sponsor logos, player names or numbers. - Swim or beachwear. - Untailored trousers, shorts, skirts or dresses, including sports shorts/skorts, tracksuit pants, leggings, cycle shorts or other skin-tight leisure or sportswear – and all should be of mid-thigh length or longer. - Cargo/work or camouflage paramilitary style trousers or shorts with external pockets on the legs.
On the Course - Golf shoes and golf attire must be worn on the course (this does not apply to players under 14 years). - Golf attire means clothes that are generally available for purchase in professional's shops or golf stores. - Denim or leather trousers, shorts, skirts, skorts or dresses, including, but not limited to jeans, are not permitted. - T-shirts, vests, and strapless tops are not permitted. - We would prefer shirts tucked in as they tend to look smarter but will allow shirts to be untucked as long as they look smart and must be long enough to avoid showing midriffs. - Trousers must not be tucked into socks. - Caps if of a peaked style, should be worn with the peak in the front.
Note: The Pro Shop and Course Marshals have the authority not to allow members or guests on the courses if these rules are infringed.
Bar and Patio - The aim is to provide a relaxed and informal atmosphere where members and guests can socialise in comfort. - Jeans (as long as they are not ripped, frayed or soiled), T-shirts (as long as they don’t display slogans) and trainers may be worn. - Soiled or wet clothing is not permitted in the bar and wet umbrellas and coats should be left in the locker room. - Headgear should not be worn inside the clubhouse, unless for religious reasons, and on the patio, caps with peaks should be worn with the peak in the front.
Dressing for the Occasion - On occasion a dress code may be specified for some functions or events. This will be highlighted in the publicity for the relevant for functions: - Smart Casual: Includes smart jeans and trainers unless otherwise specified. - Smart: Suits, trousers/skirts & jackets or dresses, shirts with collars with or without a tie. - Formal: Black tie, evening dress.
